Johanita Anggia Rini
Johanita Anggia Rini, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at the Department of Architecture Universitas Islam Indonesia. Her area of interest is structure in architecture, and her current research is structure in Indonesian vernacular architecture. She explores the diversity and richness of structures in Indonesian architecture from the perspective of technology and local wisdom, to draw on its essence and deliver it through design and teaching.
She obtained her bachelor in architecture at Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta in 2009, master of engineering in Bandung Institute of Technology in 2012, and doctorate in architecture (Ph.D.) in Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf Üniversitesi Turkey in 2021. She is a member of the Indonesian Institute of Architects and the Indonesian Institute of Built Environment Researcher.
Inspired by her five years of living across Asia and Europe in the historical city of Istanbul, she developed a passion for urban sketching and digital painting as a way to sharpen sensitivity to architecture and urban life. She shares her urban sketches, digital paintings, and mobile urban photography on her Instagram account.
