Curriculum for PPAR

The Implementation of “In Campus” Studio for PPAr

Professional Studio 1 and 2 within the PPAr are conducted “off campus”. This method is a result of negotiations between UII and IAI (Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia – Indonesian Institute of Architects) of Yogyakarta Branch, prior to the commencement of PPAr because UII wanted its PPAr graduates to be granted the status of “Arsitek Muda” (Junior Architect). The process of professional certification is further described in Section 3. In response to the need of quality assurance in the studio supervision process, the management has decided to move the venue of Professional Studio 2 “in campus”. As a result, the Department of Architecture has set up an additional studio facility to accommodate the activities of Professional Studio 2, which has been running since this semester, beginning in March 2016.

The moving of Professional Studio 2 in campus does not change the basic concept of Professional Studio delivery, i.e., incorporating the real architectural project into studio exercises. Within the Professional Studio 2 students are required to work on projects delivered by architects. In other words, the management of PPAr has made some agreements with its partnering architects to bring their work into the studio to be done by students. By this methods, the supervision of students is conducted under the same nature as any other in campus studio, i.e., Architectural Design Studio 1 to 7 within the first 4 years of study (see Section 4), except that the projects assigned to the students are real. In other words, the supervision by project’s owner remains in effect. Students are required to consult periodically the progress of their accomplishment.

The exercise of “in-campus and off-campus studios” in this Department is not unique. A report of  Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ASCA) suggests that despite architecture schools in the United States and Canada must meet similar accreditation criteria, the programs are remarkably different especially in the attempt to introduce an ‘integrated’ professional experience’ in the education, i.e., a required co-op internship or off-campus experiences. Prior to the establishment of 4 + 1 program at UII about three years ago, the off campus internship was integrated with the 4 years curriculum of 2008 and before. However, since the modification of the curriculum in 2013 that led to the establishment of the 4+1 program (undergraduate plus PPAr), the previous co-op internship program was replaced by Professional Studio in the PPAr.

Curriculum Structure of the PPAr

The introduction of “in campus” Professional Studio 2 has led to the adjustment of curriculum structure. Before, both Professional Studio 1 and 2 were conducted off campus. The problem occurs in the second semester where Elective 2 has to be taken at the same time with Advanced Architectural Theory (AAT), because students have to wait until the end of the “off campus” Professional Studio. However, the starting time of AAT overlaps with half time of the “off campus” Professional Studio, which makes the proper supervision difficult to conduct because the students are not always available in campus.

In order to overcome such a problem, the “in campus” Professional Studio 2 has been introduced. This mode of delivery allows students to have a more controlled time in the studio than that of the previous structure because the mode of learning is the same as the previous studio learning they experienced during their first 4 years, i.e., Architectural Design Studio 1 to 7. In other words, the Elective 2 can be taken at the same time with Professional Studio 2, yet they can start the Advanced Architectural Theory before they fully complete the Professional Studio 2. In addition, the number of electives offered has been increased to 4, which gives more options and flexibility to the students to choose the electives according to their interests.

Competence Assessment for the Granting of Architect’s Certificate

As discussed in Section 3, prior to the granting of certificate as “Arsitek Muda” (First Degree Architect) at the end of the PPAr, the students must attend an event called “Preliminary Verification and Validation”, which is intended to assure the quality of Professional Studio products before the are examined by LPJK (Lembaga Pengembangan Jasa Konstruksi – Agency of Construction Services Development). In previous years, this process was separated from the PPAr because by default, the granting of certificate is not part of university’s responsibility. However, starting this year (2016), the PPAr management has set up an agreement with both IAI (Institute of Architect Indonesia) and LPJK to integrate the process into PPAr.  

The above figure explains that the scope of certificate for “Arsitek Muda” (First Level Architect) is limited, which means that a holder of such certificate (the fresh graduate of PPAr) may only conduct a simple architectural desidn projects. He or she will be allowed to undertake project with a higher degree of complexity after at least two years of experience as a First Level Architect, and passes the assessment of the Second Level Architect (Arsitek Madya) at the end of his/her two years working period.

Curriculum M.Ars

Di dalam kerangka Kurikulum Magister Arsitektur UII, keilmuan yang akan dikembangkan adalan Arsitektur yang difokuskan pada Islamic Architeture for All dengan memperhatikan aspek Sustainability dan lokalitas “Nusantara Archipelago” (Kepulauan Nusantara). Pendekatan kurikulum Magister Arsitektur didasarkan pada tingkat kemampuan kerja level kualifikasi 8 (delapan) yaitu Program Magister.

Body of Knowledge dari Program Studi Magister Arsitektur UII

Bidang ilmu dan kajian yang menjadi pokok bahasan dalam Program Magister Arsitektur UII tidak berbeda dengan apa yang dikaji pada program magister sejenis di tempat lain. Bidang ilmu dan kajian yang dilakukan disini akan dapat mendukung aplikasi ilmu-ilmu yang lain dalam tatanan praktis. Bidang ilmu yang akan menjadi pokok dalam Program Magister Arsitektur UII adalah bidang ilmu Arsitektur yang dihimpun dari beberapa sub-bidang yaitu Islamic Architecture, Sustainable Architecture, Architecture for all, and Nusantara Architecture. Ilmu Arsitektur berkaitan dengan bidang lain seperti Planologi (Perencanaan Wilayah, Kota dan Desa), Urban Design, Architecture Landscape, Interior dan Furniture. Untuk pengembangan lebih jauh, bidang ilmu Arsitektur dalam Program Magister Arsitektur UII akan didukung dengan penguatan dibidang Arsitektur Islam dan Nusantara karena Indonesia merupakan negara dengan penduduk muslim terbesar dan kaya akan budaya di setiap daerah yang terdiri dari 34 provinsi.

Perkembangan Bidang Ilmu/ Kajian

Perkembangan bidang ilmu Arsitektur dan kajiannya dapat berdampak langsung atau tidak langsung terhadap perkembangan teknologi dimasa depan. Doxiadis (1963) menulis bahwa ilmu dan praktek Arsitektur berkembang dari kepentingan lokal ke internasional. Berdasarkan perkembangan negara yang mencakup lokalitas, sosial ekonomi, dan perkembangan teknologi, maka arsitektur berkembang dari karya kerjinan ke karya industri arsitektur (Shidarta, 1984). Bila diamati, tulisan-tulisan tentang perkembangan arsitektur di masa lalu lebih banyak dibanding tulisan karya arsitektur yang berkembang saat ini. Penulis asing lebih banyak menulis arsitektur Indonesia dibanding ahli-ahli Indonesia (Atmadi, 1981). Menurut Atmadi (1981), kegiatan bidang arsitektur yang belum banyak disentuh adalah adalah PENELITIAN ARSITEKTUR. Penelitian arsitektur pada hakekatnya merupakan usaha untuk mempelajari kembali konsep dan patokan bangunan yang telah dikembangkan pada masa lalu yang sangat berguna bagi perumusan konsep dan pendekatan yang akan diterapkan pada bangunan atau gedung yang akan menjawab tantangan masa kini maupun yang akan datang. Setiap hasil perancangan mestinya sudah merupakan suatu sintesa yang merupakan hasil penelitian.

Untuk menghindari hasil sintesa atau kesimpulan yang tidak mantap atau kurang memadai, maka diperlukan metoda perancanan yang lebih rasional (glass box) (Atmadi, 1981) dan memahami pula adanya pendekatan black box. Sehingga, manfaat hasil riset Magister Arsitektur UII tidak hanya untuk kepentingan praktis dan ekonomis, namun maka manfaat riset juga untuk perkembangan ilmu arsitektur. Selain itu, hasil-hasil riset Magister Arsitektur UII juga akan memberikan dampak langsung terhadap praktek perancangan arsitektur dimasa sekarang maupun masa yang akan datang.

Dengan akan dikembangkannya Program Studi Magister Arsitektur UII, dengan penguatan RISET DESAIN yang diperlukan untuk kepentingan akademik maupun profesional, maka kelak sarjana S-2 yang dihasilkan oleh Magister Arsitektur UII diharapkan akan sangat kompeten sebagai ahli dibidang Islamic Architecture, Architecture for all, Nusantara Architecture, and Sustainable Architecture.

Rancangan Kurikulum

Kurikulum Program Magister Arsitektur UII dirancang dengan jumlah SKS sebanyak 76 SKS yang terdiri dari subyek pendukung 18 SKS dan subyek utama sebanyak 58 SKS. Dengan jumlah SKS sebanyak ini diharapkan Program Magister Arsitektur UII dapat menghasilkan sarjana S2 yang kompeten dibidang riset dan atau kompeten sebagai staf pengajar perguruan tinggi. Oleh karena itu pada semester-semester awal mahasiswa akan diberikan matakuliah tatap muka dengan subyek filsafat ilmu dan metodologi penelitian, sedangkan untuk peningkatan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan penelitian Magisternya maka mahasiswa diharuskan mengambil mata kuliah pendukung pilihan wajib yang disesuaikan dengan rencana topik penelitian yang akan diambil. Mata kuliah pendukung ini diambil oleh mahasiswa berdasarkan usulan dari dosen yang akan diproyeksikan sebagai pembimbing tesis dari mahasiswa yang bersangkutan. Selebihnya subyek yang harus ditempuh mahasiswa adalah subyek penelitian yang menyangkut penulisan tesis. Oleh karena itu, lulusan Magister Arsitektur UII adalah Magister Arsitektur yang mampu menguasai ‘state of the art’ perancangan & ilmu arsitektur. Curriculum 2013

CURRICULUM  2013

Currently, Department of Architecture UII run Curriculum 2013. This is the first curriculum designed for 5-year program consisting of 4-year Bachelor program as the Pre-Professional Program in Architecture and 1-year Professional Program in Architecture. Competences as defined by IAI. All of these criteria are distributed in courses in the Bachelor and Professional program. By the time this Curriculum is implemented in 2013, PPAr program is already established for a year. Therefore, some minor adjustment is carried out to match both programs.

Educational Objective

Educational Objectives to achieve in Curriculum 2013 are as follows:

·    To have excellent communication skills

·     To have comprehensive design skills in the level of medium size buildings

·     To have knowledge in building science and technology based on sustainable development

·     To have sensibility in socio-cultural context and marginal society

·     To have skills and ethics based on Islamic and universal values

Graduate Competence

After defining graduate profiles for both Bachelor and Professional programs above, Department of Architecture UII develop further competences to achieve in each course as derivation of educational objectives and graduate profiles by referring to International and National Standards.

a) International Standard of Competence

In formulating the graduate competence, Department of Architecture UII refer to KAAB Condition and Procedures for Professional Degree Programs (2013). KAAB define the detailed competence into Student Performance Criteria (SPC) consisting of 30 criteria classified into 5 categories including communication, cultural context, design, technical area and professional practice. These SPC are progressively ordered starting with the basic foundation of knowledge and technology, and expanding to the professional technical area and the role and the responsibility of architect in society.

As the SPC establish minimum achievement level for graduates of professional degree programs considered necessary of those intended to apply for license to practice architecture. Professional degree programs must prove that the graduates of the program successfully completed the compulsory courses to satisfy all the provisions of the 30 criteria.

The levels of achievement for each SPC are distinguished in two levels:

·      UNDERSTANDING: Students must acquire, comprehend, and be well acquainteto d with information. Students can correctly paraphrase or summarize information without necessarily relating it to other material or seeing its fullest implications.

·   ABILITY: Students must be capable of manipulating and relating specific information acquired to achieve tasks. Students should be able to select the correct information suitable to the given situation, and facilitate it to resolve the particular problems on hand.

b)   National Standard of Competence

Department of Architecture UII refer to National Standards of Competence as defined by IASA which adopt the UIA Charter for Architectural Education (2005) and Standard of Competence as formulated by IAI.

Structure of the Curriculum

With the establishment of PPAr as an integrated part of Architectural Education, Curriculum 2013 is structured to include both Bachelor and Professional programs with optional termination at the end of the fourth year. Curriculum 2013 of Department of Architecture UII consists of Core Curriculum or National Curriculum as stipulated by IASA and Institutional Curriculum as formulated by the Department. This Curriculum is delivered in 33 compulsory courses plus 2 elective courses for the Bachelor Program (totalling 150 credits) and 4 compulsory courses plus 2 elective courses for the Professional Program (totalling 36 credits).

Curriculum 2013 is structured with considerations:

·Architectural Design Studio (ADS) courses running consecutively from Semester 1 to Semester 10 serve as the backbone of the Curriculum. All of design competences in requiring ability level are distributed in these corses.

·  Other courses with architectural contents are distributed to support the competences achieved in ADS courses.

· Institutional Character Building and Liberal Arts courses are flexibly distributed on the first eight semesters.

Liberal Arts Courses

Contents of  “liberal arts” is implemented in the Curriculum 2013 as the development of competence in forming the fundamental knowledge, personality and characters of the graduates. Most of the courses with this contents are University courses. There are 10 courses with 2 credits each, namely: Islamic Principles, Islamic Worship, State Philisophy, Entrepreneurship, Islamic Thoughts and Civilization, Islamic Leadership, English, Mathematics and Community Services. These courses are distributed in almost all semesters. Due to the limited number of credits in PPAr Program, all of these courses are in the Bachelor of Architecture Program.

Contents of Courses  

The content of each courses are develop along six interrelated domains of knowledge: architectural design, communication,  architectural theories, technology, professionalism and character building. The level of competence to achieved in these domains of knowledge are: awareness, understanding, and ability.

SpecialRules  

The amount of learning activities in each course, including studio and non-studio subjects, is measured in credit. One credit equals to 50 minutes classroom activities, 50 minutes structured activities and 50 minutes independent activities per week. If a theoretical subject has 2 credits with the SPC in the level of understanding, then, a student is required to attend 100 minutes classroom session per week.

ADS courses with SPC in the level of ability requires more comprehensive activities. For an ADS with 6 credits, for instance, students have to attend: 300 minutes in-studio sessions with mostly tutorial activities and 300 minutes extra-studio activities to enhance their knowledge and skills which may include studium general, field trip, site visit, practical and experimental works, and additional tutorial activities for certain themes.

There are some rules for students to consider in this Curriculum:

1.  Minimum C to pass all Architectural Design Studio courses including Bachelor Final Project and Professional Studio courses.

2.   Minimum C to pass all University courses (Principles of Islam, State Philosophy, Islamic Leadership, Islamic Thought and Civilization, Citizenship, English, Islamic Worship and Ethics, Entrepreneurship, dan Community Service.

3.    Should take minimum 8 credits of elective courses after passing Architectural Design Studio 3.

4.    Professional Program is optional for the graduates of Bachelor Program but it is compulsory for those applying for professional architects.

Laboratories are essential learning infrastructure for ADS courses for students to develope knowledge and exercise skills through practical works and experimentations. Each Laboratory may have different roles and varied methods in supporting learning activities in general or studio program in particular. History of the Curriculum

HISTORY OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

To achieve competence of the graduates as formulated above, Department of Architecture UII develop curriculum as the fundamental design for learning content and process. Since its establishment in 1987, the Department have implemented 5 curriculums, which are Curriculum 1987, 1995, 2002, 2008, dan 2013. These Curriculums are desugned with primary concerns towards professionalism and international recognition based on local tradition and Islamic values. The variety of approaches and references in achieving professionalism and international recognition gives the characteristics of these Curriculums.

As a newly-established institution, Department of Architecture UII was under the supervision of Department of Architecture Gadjah Mada University. Consequently, its Curriculum was developed following the model of its supervising institution with some additional courses on Islamic values. The first Curriculum of Department of Architecture UII consists of 71 courses, compulsory and elective, distributed in 9 semester. It has 8 Architectural Design Studio courses consecutively delivered in all semester ending with Final Project in semester 9.

The first Curriculum “genuinely” developed by Department of Architecture UII  is implemented in 1995. It is oriented towards professionalism as a broad field to study. This Curriculum has 58 courses delivered in 8 semester. Three Studio courses are given at semester 7 or the last semester prior to Final Project. Architectural Design Studio, being the primary studio has 8 credits. Other two supporting studio courses are Urban Design Studio and Urban Planning and Housing Studio, each has 4 credits, to extend the ability of the students in designing and planning in these related fields.

Indonesian Association of Schools of Architecture (IASA) is founded in 2001 with Department of Architecture UII as one of its founding member. IASA produce guidelines to implement the Minister of National Education Regulation concerning Curriculum Development in Higher Education. These guidelines suggest that the Curriculum should: a. have well defined graduates’ competence, b. referring the department quality assurance, c. referring to national regulation, d. directing towards international recognition, and f. resulting from harmonization among higher education, society and graduates.

By the time these regulation and guidelines are issued, Department of Architecture UII is reviewing its Curriculum. To comply with these rules, the Department implement the first point of the guidelines by formulating graduates competence focusing on the ability to design building rather than having studios on urban design, housing and urban planning as in the ongoing Curriculum 1995.

During Curriculum review to be implemented in 2002, Department of Architecture UII also aspire towards internalization. It refer, therefore, to international accrediting body guidelines to formulate the competence of the graduates and the content of the Curriculum. The referred guidelines are those formulated by National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) of the United States of America. All of the 37 competences as stipulated in NAAB regulation are implemented in 59 courses delivered in 8 semesters. These regulation also shape further the detailed competences of the graduates of Department of Architecture UII which are described as:

a.Knowledge on tradional architecture and history of Indonesian and Western architecture

b.Understanding the framework  of architectural knowledge and architectural research method and skills

c.Having the abilty for computer-supported design, and presentation skills

d.Understanding the principles of sustainable development

e.Understanding human behavior, human diversity, accessibily and building economics as design considerations

f.Having Islamic professional ethics and entrepreneurship spirit

g.Having the ability to work independently and in team, critical attitude and long-life learning

All design studio courses in this Curriculum deal with architectural design in the building scale. Stages of development of these Architectural Design Studio courses are formulated to start from a single architectonic composition in Semester 1 to a mid-size building in a particular urban context in Semester 7 prior to Final Project. Variety of contexts and design approaches are also distributed in these studio courses to cover the whole competence in the level of ability as stipulated in NAAB rules.

In developing Curriculum 2008, Department of Architecture UII take further step towards internationalization by inviting an international reviewer, a professor from Department of Architecture National University of Singapore (NUS). As architect’s professional program in NUS is fully accredited by Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), in this occasion Curriculum of UII is reviewed based on criteria and guidelines as stipulated by RIBA and implemented in NUS.

In general, the content of the previous Curriculum complies with the requirement of RIBA. In terms of proportion, however, RIBA requires that the number of credit of all studio courses should comprise at least 50% of all the credits in the Curriculum.

To achieve the required proportion of studio course credits, Architectural Design Studio courses are given more credits by integrating this subjects with other practically oriented courses resulting in the proportion of 45% credits are allocated for studio courses. Consequently, the number of courses are reduced from 59 in the previous Curriculum to 41 in Curriculum 2008.

To afford all the vision and mission above, the department timeline since it was launched:

1987

Architecture Program was initially open in November 9th, 1987 through Decree of Coordinator of Private Higher Education Region V (KOPERTIS wilayah V) No. 1405 / Kop.WiI.N / 1987. The institution was initially only enrols 60 students. The first campus is located on Demangan Baru under the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning together with Civil Engineering.

1989

Two years later, on February 10th, 1989, Department of Architecture has received the status of “Formally Registered” (Terdaftar, basic grade) from the Ministry of Education Decree  No.088 / 0 /1989 . At the time, the capacity is still limited so that the enrolled student was still limited despite increased public interest.

1994

Four years later, in 1993, Architectural Department campus moved from Jl . Demangan Baru to Integrated Campus located in JI. Kaliurang Km. 14.4. Thus, the enrolment capacity ranging up to about 100 students. At almost the same time, by July 9th, 1994, the Higher Education Decree No. 193 / Dikti / Kep / 1994 was received by Department of Architecture for higher grade “Acknowledged” (Diakui, medium grade).

1995

By 1995, Architecture Department has been awarded as “Equivalent Program” (Disamakan, highest grade) through the Directorate General of Higher Education Decree No. 504 / Dikti / Kep / 1995 dated December 30th, 1995. The graded received was represent the highest level achievement at that time. The enrolled number of students was also increased significantly by an average of 150 students annually.

1998

In 1996, BAN PT, the accreditation system for higher education was introduced by the ministry. Architecture UII was among the first institutions to undergo the process and remarkably gained a success. The certificate of National Accreditation Board of Higher Education No. 00 788 / Ak – 1 / UIIAERNIII / 1998, was received by August 11th, 1998. Since then, the department is Accredited with B rating (good).

2003

Right after one period, BAN PT re-accreditation was commenced in 2003 and Department of Architecture UII was accredited and awarded by highest grade of A (excellent) by the accreditation certificate No. 05 362 / Ak – VI – S1-005 / UIIAER / III / 2003 dated March 12th, 2003. The accreditation score obtained as high as 373.26 points from the maximum of 400.

 

2008

By years of 2008, 2009 and 2010 the Department has been awarded numerous national Competitive Grant “A3” from the Directorate of Higher Education consecutively. The grant was dedicated for improvement on education infrastructure, curriculum as well as human resources. The total amount of the grant was 3,4 billion rupiahs.

2011-2013

The department won internal competitive grant consecutively from  2011, 2012 and 2013. The program proposed was (a) adaptation of academic structure and system towards international accreditation, (b) Development of teaching learning capacity based on Studio Culture and (C) Strengthen input-output policies based on international requirements. The total amount of the grant was 1,4 billion rupiahs.

2012

Internationalization of the program has begun since 2011. However, the fifth year program of 4+1 scheme, initially started in 2012 by establishment of PPAR (Architect Professional Program) as effort to comply the international standard of five year architectural education.  The department has developed the 2013 curriculum by adopting ten semesters scheme. The establishment was supported by Memorandum of Understanding with Indonesian Institute of Architects Architects

2013

Architecture Department once again has a success in 2013 for to be awarded by BAN PT a highest level accreditation grade of “A” by Certificate No. 237 / SK / BAN – PT / Ak – XVI / S / XI / 2013 dated November 22th, 2013. The grade point is 379 which is one of the highest scores of accreditation in Architectural education. The grade “A” shows that the performance of the institution Department of Architecture comprehensively excellent.

2014

The Department of Architecture offers two levels of architectural bachelor degree. The first, called Sarjana Strata 1 (S1) Teknik Arsitektur, is a 4 year program comparable to Bachelor in Architectural Engineering. The second, Pendidikan Profesi Arsitek (PPAR), is 1 year professional program. Both of the programs are accumulatively execute 4 + 1 scheme of complete architectural education. The PPAR endorsed by the Indonesian Institute of Architect IAI in 2014 to conform international standard of architectural education in providing architects eligible for licensure.

2016

Architecture Department UII is in the process to obtain international accreditation through KAAB and has received status as a candidate.

Kurikulum 2013: Tugas Akhir, Studio Perancangan 7 dan Karya Tulis Ilmiah

Seiring dengan tujuan Kurikulum 2013 untuk mencapai taraf kompetensi yang setara internasional maka Tugas Akhir Kesarjanaan diupayakan merupakan sebuah produk yang serbacakup (komprehensif) yang mengekspresikan kedalaman riset dan ketrampilan perancangan. Untuk itu diperlukan sebuah rangkaian yang koheren dari mata kuliah sebelumnya terutama Studio Perancangan Arsitektur 7 dan Karya Tulis Ilmiah (KTI). Pada kurikulum 2013 ini Tugas Akhir Sarjana dapat ditempuh dengan 2 jalur. (Lihat gambar skema tempuh Tugas Akhir Sarjana)

 

 

1. Merupakan satu kesatuan dengan Karya Tulis Ilmiah (KTI) yang dapat ditempuh di semester 6.

2. Merupakan satu kesatuan dengan Studio Perancangan Arsitektur 7 yang ditempuh di semester 7.

 

Jalur pertama (dari KTI) mensyaratkan konten KTI yang berbasis tema-tema pendekatan. Artinya, mahasiswa dapat mempersiapkan diri lebih awal dengan merencanakan substansi KTI sebagai sebuah “penjelajahan” teori dan metode perancangan yang nantinya dipakai di Tugas Akhir Sarjana. Konsultasikan hal ini dengan Dosen Pembimbing Akademik kalian untuk perencanaan studi yang lebih baik! Mahasiswa harus menunjukkan keunggulan karya KTInya (nilai A) untuk dapat diterima sebagai prasyarat Tugas Akhir Sarjana. Melalui jalur ini mahasiswa dapat “memilih” Dosen Pembimbing Tugas Akhir. Di sisi lain Dosen dapat membangun “Umbrella Project” atau penelitian bersama yang berfokus pada suatu aspek atau lokasi tertentu dan mengundang mahasiswa untuk mengikutinya sebagai bagian dari KTI dan kemudian dikembangkan menjadi Tugas Akhir.

 

Jalur kedua (dari STUPA 7) merupakan jalur yang dirancang secara “generik” oleh Kurikulum 2013. Artinya, apabila mahasiswa tidak berminat merancang KTI sebagai bagian dari Tugas Akhir Sarjana maka mahasiswa harus menempuhnya melalui STUPA 7. StuPA 7 dirancang untuk mengenalkan mahasiswa terhadap urban design (perancangan makro kawasan) yang dikerjakan secara kolaboratif dan berbasis upaya menggali potensi lokalitas tertentu. Karena bersifat generik maka dosen pembimbing antara StuPA 7 dan Tugas Akhir by default atau pada intinya adalah berbeda (Lihat diagram).

 

 

Bentuk ideal studi Arsitektur di 3 semester terakhir adalah KTI ditempuh dengan substansi pendekatan yang juga dipraktikkan di StuPA 7 dan kemudian dikembangkan pada Tugas Akhir Sarjana. Diharapkan dengan jalur tempuh semacam ini maka mahasiswa mendapatkan kompetensi yang unggul dengan produk yang komprehensif sebagai bekal untuk mengembangkan diri secara profesional.

 

Model dua jalur Tugas Akhir ini akan dilaksanakan mulai semester genap 2013/2014. Untuk semester ganjil 2013/2014 masih memakai model Kurikulum 2008. Untuk Tugas Akhir ini masa transisi dilakukan hingga semester ganjil 2014/2015 dimana kebijakan-kebijakan yang kasuistik akan diberlakukan.
